NaNoWriMo 2009

A little early, but I'm already planning.
I've bought my Moleskine, I'm going to go buy pens tomorrow, I'm looking for ideas, and I'm 2.5 months early. dang.
The objective of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is to write a 50,000 word Novel in 30 days. crazy, yes, but it's also really fun.

Every year I try to convince myself to do this and every year I'm overwhelmed by other responsibilities, hobbies, and social activities. I think this year will be the same. We'll see.

Ditto . I generally get through a few days, then run out of steam...

I did it successfully last year. Ended up with a 54,000 word piece, and really enjoyed the process. It does take some serious dedication, but I found it super rewarding. That said, my participation in Nano 2009 remains a mystery in my brain. I want to, but at the same time...we'll see how this semester's class load looks first.

I'm kinda hesitant too in joining because of the plans that I have to settle with. I should give this more thought.

The issue this year is that I will be in a class in the Fall in the evenings: Technical Writing and Communication. I don't know if I'll be able to find the time to write a novel in November, especially since I'll be doing technical writing in class.

Found this the other day, found it extremely helpful
one word. so little time.
you're given 60 seconds to write about one word. great fun.

I have participated (with varying levels of success) for several years now and intend to do so again this year. I already have an idea for the story, although it may not wait until November.

I am seriously going to try again to do this. Exams are at the start of November but I only have one this semester so I should be ok.

Last year I barely finished in time, but I ended up surprised at how much I liked my story. So I'm excited for November. All I have to decide beforehand is whether to write it on the computer or on paper.

I came up with a plot idea the other night. at 3AM.
I've decided to do this year's NaNo handwritten, so I'll see how I like that.

I signed up, despite being in the throes of my third semester of graduate school. This may well be the dumbest thing I've ever done.

I'm in as usual. Haven't won yet, but that won't stop me from trying. I'm bobthecockroach on the wrimo website as well.

I'm going to try a different approach this year. I'm not going to do any planning and I want to hit 50k words at any cost, but my *goal* is to end up with *anything* worth keeping, even if it's just a 500 word excerpt.
