| Delay I'm looking at getting a delay pedal, but I have next to no experience with them. I've tried them in worship a couple times but our drummer always sped up or slowed down and it sounded pretty bad. I'd kind of ignored delay pedals since then because setting them to the right tempo is a pain. Apparently there's tap tempo or something where you tap your foot to the rhythm and it sets the delay?
What's a good delay/tap tempo system and how much does it cost?
Thanks.

#2 | | Algebraic! | I used the Boss DD-5 with a tap tempo pedal (Boss FS5-U). These typically sell used in the $90-$125 range depending on condition. Some folks complain that the DD-5 is a little too clean for their tastes, but I really enjoy the tone of its delays. |

| tc electronics nova delay is the best delay pedal for under $300 in my opinion. Its around 250.. it has one footswitch to turn it on and off, and one to tap in the tempo. It gives you a lot of control over the quality of the repeats, from tape, to analog, to completely clean digital. It has quarter, triplet, sixteenth, and a few other note value settings. Slapback, volume dynamic delay, stereo panning, and a ping pong delay setting make it even more versatile. |

| I've got a Marshall Echo Head for my delay. It works with a tap tempo, though I haven't used it with one. Of course, it also works without one too, like the other delay pedals. Sounds pretty good for what I know about delay and how much I actually use it.

| Once you use a delay with tap tempo, it'll all work out. As far as the big delay modelers go, the Nova Delay, Line 6 DL4, and Boss DD-20 are all pretty popular pedals. The compact digital delays by Boss are generally really clean and bright with long delay times, while analog delays like the MXR Carbon Copy, EHX Memory Man and others will have a little bit of high end drop off on the repeats, giving what is a "warmer" sound that blends more into a reverb-like atmosphere |

| I recently traded in my DL4 for a Nova Delay. I absolutely LOVE the Nova and I would personally recommend it over the Line 6. Also, from experience, if your church plays a lot of Hillsong United or that style of music, be prepared to manually tap in dotted 8ths on the DL4. Pain in the booty, in my opinion. |

| Well, I'm sure a lot of those are great but I'm kind of looking for something in the under $200 range. Preferably around $150.
Cause by the time I convert to canadian, with the nova I'm out $275...

| I'd go with the dd5 or dd7. You can find the dd-5 on ebay now for pretty cheap.

| What are the differences between the dd-5 and dd-7?

| 7 has more delay time and features. If all you want is tap tempo subdivisions, a 5 would be much cheaper.

| I have the DD-7 and I love it. I think it is priced around 160, but I'm not exactly sure.
