Improving Chest voice

I literally JUST discovered my chest voice for the first time ten minutes ago. I'm a 20 year old chick, I have a good head voice, I've got the range of a mezzo. In chest voice I sound like a yowling cat HAHAHA. It's all out of pitch and not smooth...actually, 10 minutes later now and it's getting better. Anyone have any good, pointed exercises for strengthening chest?

Wow this is so so weird.

That is... interesting to say the least. If I was female I might be able to help better. Any exercises you've been doing in head can also be done in chest, just lower down.

I'm pretty sure it's all about practice. As a man, almost 99% of my singing is done from my chest. I do know this, diaphragm control seems more important in the chest than it does in the head voice.

how do you sing from the chest? I consider myself a soft singer and I think I sound great singing that way. If you want an idea...think of Celtic Woman...yeah, that kind of singing but singing that's solo at a rock concert worthy...forget it but I've always wanted to be able to sing like that. Since I dream of singing in the worship ministry. I'm talking a voice that's worthy to stand front stage with Hillsong!
