The Lovely Bones

The trailer for this was just released:

YouTube - 'The Lovely Bones' Trailer HD

In short, this is the newest film that is being directed by Peter Jackson. It's based off of a highly-acclaimed novel, and is about a girl who is raped, murdered, and taken to Heaven. From there, she watches the effect her death has on her family and must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

The girl is played by Saoirse Ronan (she played the young girl in Atonement), Mark Wahlberg will play her father, Rachel Weisz will play her mother, Susan Sarandon will play her grandmother, and Stanley Tucci will play her murderer.

Look interesting to anyone else? This looks like it could have a lot of potential, and it's about time Mark Wahlberg starts getting back to these types of roles. If he plays this one right under Jackson's direction, I could see him getting enough momentum that he could be awarded with an Oscar nomination.

This looks like it could either be amazing or really tacky/over-the-top (with all the heavy effects and dreamlike imagery). Since it's Peter Jackson, I'm optimistic. Definitely seeing it.

To be honest, despite the fact that this film is portraying Heaven(and the special effects that are gonna come with that), the story sounds like a smaller, more intimately human and emotional story than what we're used to seeing from Jackson's films. That excites me and makes me wonder how Jackson is gonna handle it.

I just found out recently that the musical score will be done by Brian Eno. For those of you who don't know who he is, he's a well-reputed composer and he has worked with numerous bands, including U2 on most of their 80's and early 90's albums and on their latest CD No Line on The Horizon.

Nobody ever posted about this, but I saw this a couple months ago.

It was terrible in the sense that it could have been great, if that makes sense. The story itself is one full of immense sadness, and I did fell that in the beginning. However, as the story progresses and we spend more and more time in Susie's "heaven" it just gets too boring. I would have much rather spent more time watching the family deal with their frustration over Susie's murder than watch more CGI. It was so annoying to watch this movie because it could have been so good, but came out just okay.
