Wow, that's amazing. I know all five verses of the hymn from memory, but have never in my life heard the anonymous refrain. Very interesting!

Or theology at all, for that matter.

The non-poetic translation of the chorus might be something like:

"I will go to Jesus. Jesus will comfort me. In Jesus' presence, there is an abundance of joy."

I'm not sure where the "bad theology" would even be in the refrain.

Is it the idea of Jesus' "embracing"?

Or is it the "ten thousand charms"?
