Unhappy Does God hold you accountable

If you change your appearance with surgery because you are not happy with your looks, can God hold you accountable and punish you when Jesus comes?

Are you asking if cosmetic surgery is a sin?

what AlphaSigma said, and taking it further - accountable and punished for what? I am aware of no sin of cosmetic surgery. now the motivation of the heart behind this surgery - that is a different matter.

Just to throw out an odd little thought I had... God actually commanded one particular "cosmetic surgery."

Does God hold you accountable? Yes.

For plastic surgery, tattoos, piercings, etc? Yes.

Note: People, please read the whole post before going to town with where I am taking it from. It would be easy to soundbite me on this one because I am going to use a much misused piece of scripture.

I think the clearest example would be the OT prohibition on tattoos. Leviticus 19:28 speaks of cutting or tattoos for the dead. It prohibits them explicitly. Now... ...I think the key focus in this passage is not making a mark on yourself, but making a mark on yourself for the dead. The point here is not the tattoo, but the usage of ancient witchcraft, which actually does still continue in some cultures' tattoos.

Now. I think that the motive of craft here is the importance.

My mom had a bunch of plastic surgery on her foot to make it appear more human after a car accident. I do not think you can make a case for that being wrong. However, as living in Orange County I see a lot of plastic surgery that is probably wrong. For example the girl I overheard the other day at the gellato stand in line with my wife, was definitely getting a boob job for immoral reasons. (to get laid easier, was the stated reason.)

I think motivations on a lot of this stuff are going to be where the line is drawn and often as humans when we honestly take a look at why we are doing what we are doing, if we are honest, I think we will see sinful motivation as the core. However, I think there is a time and place for plastic surgery especially. Tats and piercings usually seem fairly neutral to me.
