I assume you're referring to the Original Iron chef from Japan, or the American Version?

I don't think Alton had anything to do with the original. As far as I know the only Food Network guy who was on the original was Bobby Flay.

Woo Alton Brown and Good Eats! I DVR all the episodes! Sometimes I even watch them twice! That's where I learned that you can die from eating a Polar Bear liver! (The Carrots episode)

Unfortunately, I mean the American version. I don't think the original is on anymore.

My favorite on the original is Chen Kenichi. Favorite American: Mario Batali (the orange clogs are endearing).

Referring to dying from Polar Bear liver: Yes. Our bodies can't overdose on Vitamin A (our body transforms beta carotene to VA) from plants (like said carrots, it is stored in the skin...hence orange skin) but it can overdose on animal based Vitamin A in which livers especially those of Polar creatures are chock full of! I'm pretty sure anyway. I'm almost positive on this anyway. So there you have a Fun Fact of the Day (tied directly to Mr. Alton Brown even!).

From Wikipedia:
"Brown received a degree in drama from the University of Georgia. He began his career in cinematography and film production, and was the director of photography on the music video for R.E.M.'s "The One I Love." He has also worked as a steadicam operator on the Spike Lee film School Daze."

So there ya go! R.E.M.!

Indeed! Again from Wikipedia:
"Brown is a born-again Christian and a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia.[13]"

The Interview that is stated as that source:
"In 1992, Brown says, he found God, or maybe God found him, but he blundered away until he became a born-again Christian. "The single biggest life-changing thing for me is I just got baptized last year. Everything else pales in comparison to acceptance of Christianity. That's number one." He keeps a Bible in his dressing room now, not to show he's pious but because he needs the help. "At Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, baptism is a full-immersion thing, and we joke that the water didn't spit me back out."
Although he was on the cover of the August 2006 issue of the inspirational magazine Guideposts for a story about the connection between food and faith, Brown is not about to start a career as a celebrity proselytizer. "I keep praying I'll be able to do my job and I'll be useful," he says."
