I think it could be for a boy or a girl... although I would never name my kid that.

I'm pretty sure the only Boston I've heard of is David Boston. So a boy..

Sounds like a girls name to me. I've never met somebody named Boston, though.

Wow. I voted before I read the thread, and I was shocked to see it's 50/50. I totally thought boy 100%. But now that I think about it, a lot of place names are girls' names. Like Brooklyn, Paris, and Dakota.

Wow. I thought the complete opposite and was surprised to see even one vote for boy.

Totally.
Paris is a dude's name. He is a coward who shoots poisoned arrows at Achilles in the siege of Troy.

My first thought was girl's name.

But for some reason Boston sounds like a kind of nickname you could call a guy, like if it was the guys last name. I've never actually met anyone with the first name Boston...

Have met people with stranger names than that though so really, you never know...

He's also the other dude that loves Juliet in Romeo & Juliet. Surprise, surprise, he dies.

Well, I mean he freaking kills Achilles, and some blond heiress with a sex tape somehow gets the cultural buzz and it becomes feminine in our culture's eyes, that is just messed up. I think it is proof that America is still anti-france.

(Does anybody not die in Romeo and Juliet?)

FWIW,
Google image search turned back just over 3 million hits (3.2) for "Girls named Boston" and just under 3 million (2.9) for "Boys named Boston".

if I had been named boston I'd kick my own butt...

Seriously, what is the matter with giving kids names that aren't bizarre city/state/object names, or worse still misspelling common names so that they're relegated to a lifetime of spelling their otherwise simple name to every freakin' person on the planet.
