it must be hard for authors to kill off characters, specially when they spend so much time building them up.

Yeah, and I would have been annoyed at the whole "Durnik coming back to life" thing except that it was blatantly obvious from book 1, as it was pretty clear that he was "the man who dies and lives again." I can't decide if it was a good thing or a bad thing how obvious the ultimate outcome was from the very start.

there are a few more things explained in the Mallaorean, but towards the end of it in the last couple of books i feel like eddings is just treading water, waiting for something to happen. i like about the first three books.

I just read Belgarath the Sorcerer and thought it was great. I'm going to go back and read the Mallorean then Polgara the Sorceress then I might read one of his other series or read the Binding of the Blade series.
