hey everyone here is a contest to show everyone how much you love CGR! this contest will start on Thursday, July 23rd at noon CST and will continue for 6 weeks. that means that this is not a sprint...this is a marathon. only the faithful will get the prize.

the contest is simple. the more active you are on the boards...the more points you will get. the top 25 people will go into a drawing. the first person i draw out will win $200, the second $100, and the third #50. the prizes will be either visa, mc, or amex gift cards...or another gift card of your choosing (ie...amazon, guitar center, musicians friend, or something of equal value like an ipod, etc...whatever i can get my hands on)

here is how you can earn points.
1. show up everyday
2. post.
its that simple. every day that you show up and post 10 times you get 100% for that day. the stats will accumulate over the next 6 weeks, and the top 25 will be selected.
i made it so that you started accumulating stats since yesterday at noon. in your profile to the right of your posts, there will be a 0/11, 1/11,2/11...that is showing you how many posts you need to make today to get 100% for the day.

rank title if you have...
under 50% activity - "What is a Guitar?...might as well join CPF"
over 50% activity - "Guitar Master"
over 50% for 7 days - "Master of the CGR Universe"
Paid Members - "Master of the CGR Universe" (however, that does not mean that you are automaticallly in the top 25...you still have to show up and post )

there is a link to the contest on the left side of the navigation bar right by the user CP button. this is the scoreboard. this way, you will know if you are close to making it into the top 25. there was no way to take admins out of the contest, so i will automatically take them out and calculate the top 25 by hand. if there are ties at the top or near the bottom 25, they will be included in the drawing as well.

the standard contest rules apply.
1. CPF , contest forum, and CGR Stuff will not count

2. no cheap posts...they will be moderated and the points will be deducted.

3. if you are not sure your parents will allow entering an onine contest or receiving a prize, then you must get permission FIRST...if there are any complications another winner will be selected.

4. post in this thread to enter the contest.

final note:
the contest system we are installing is fairly complex. some of the calculations will not be visible in the point listings. we don't want to create a huge administrative process to award these prizes. disputes will be mediated by the Admin and no one else. all decisions made in this process are final and not up for arbitration. the goal will be to make this as fair and fun as possible. anger, fights, disputes arising out of the process will obviously work counter to this "fun" goal and are not appreciated nor will they be tolerated.

For clarification, do users gain/lose points for people they've already referred, infractions they've already received, times they've already logged in, etc.?

I ask because while I visit the site every day, I am always logged on. For point value should I log and re-log every day?

no, you dont have to do that. just show up everyday and it should log your session.

Do we have to 'register' (i.e. post our desire to participate) in order to be contest eligible?

What about sticky thread? Do mods get points for stickying threads for a good reason (e.g. so it doesn't disappear quickly)?

no, the sticky thread is for the person that came up with the thread important enough to sticky.
