I think vista is the best so far. By a long shot. See, I have been in IT long enough to hear that about 2k, xp, and now vista. Its the same whining every new OS. Well, ME had unique whining.

| interesting...so you have used Widows since DOS and you think Vista is the best one yet? What are your thoughts on the new OS that is supposed to come out this fall? (I think that's when)

Vista was more reliable than 2k or xp at launch. If you understand oses, swapping between them is no big issue.
I have used linux, unix, dos, freebsd, windows, athena, skyos, os2, beos, and a few others...
I still use dos btw.
Vista is my favorite

| I couldn't stand it... maybe if I spent a little more time with it I could get used to it...
Let me know what your opinion of the new OS is when you get it.

once I had my DVD drive unhooked by an update (been a while though). SO let me ammend that to "one small, easily remedied problem"

| Whatever Happened to Microsoft Milan? Did that just die out?
I just realized how off topic this thread has become so:
I can lose 5 pounds in one week by not drinking pop
I stay up late for no reason all the time
I can dive into water and swim 50 some feet (approximately... IDK how far my dock is from shore) before surfacing for air.

I once lost 15 in 3 months, which I can only attribute to not drinking pop because that was all I changed.

I have gone a month or two, but last time I tried I gave in after 2 weeks. I had a friend do a wrestler's diet (he's about the same build as me) and he almost had a six pack after one week. If I had the willpower I would totally try it.

| I refuse to be in the same room as someone brushing their teeth because the noise gives me the chills. (Same for someone filing their nails)
I have two moles in my belly button.

I didn't see a confirmed Milan. I used the whistler beta, Memphis NT, Longhorn, and a few others.

| I think vista is great, once you tweak it to be less user friendly and more functional- the Aero affects are great (i love winkey+tab) and it's not that bad. When XP came out everyone complained that it was such crap compared to win2k, and when win2k came out everyone complained that it was just a glitzy unreliable junker compared to NT4.
I've been in IT since we had mixed NT4/Win2k environments, and Vista is far from the worst OS introduced in that time 9x releases like ME don't really count because GUI's built on DOS were always epiqqq fail. 3.1/3.11/95/98/98se/me = blech
As for stuff you may not know about me, I've been doing IT professionally for almost a decade and hope to make a radical career change within the next 2.5-5 years. |

I remember about the same level of your complaint. (though I still wish they had named ME the Y2K edition)
And ME wasn't exactly a gui built on dos IIRC. Or maybe the lack of dos was why it sometimes couldn't start on a new install...

| If I lost 30-40 pounds I'd be really under-weight. I lost 10 pounds cause I was sick for a week and my doctor told me I needed to drink milkshakes and eat lots of high-calorie food until I gained it back. I'm skinny...
