| Video Tabs... I know that a video forum has been requested before and CGR might not have the Bandwidth for such forum, but I thought it would be cool if there was a forum (or part of the CGR site) where users could upload video tabs of certain songs.
Recently, I have found that video tabs have worked much better for me in terms of learning new songs and others might feel the same way. it would work the same way as the text tabs work. users could provide the actual tab in written form as well as a video instruction to complement it. Other users can then leave feedback and questions on a comment section.
Anyone else think this might be a good idea? Can CGR's current bandwidth support this idea?

Problem solved.

Problem solved. | But that makes the tabs external. I was going with the whole "creating CGR as the place for video tabs". We don't just link tabs from elsewhere around the web, we provide them here. That's the point.
I was putting fourth an idea that would allow CGR to continue this by allowing a video tab option.

#5 | | not so bright | I think that would be a cool feature. It would draw more vistors I'm sure. Plus, I write hundereds of chord charts for church that I NEVER take the time to upload to the site but I would probably do a couple video lessons.

| Paul, the owner (and administrator). I assume he makes these kinds of site-overhaul decisions.

| i think video is a good idea...it would for sure be an evolution for the site. i have a couple of concerns outside of the bandwidth.
1. i dont know how the record labels will react to this. they are pretty strict with us as it is.
2. would it be video lessons or video tabs?
3. i would be looking to do this on the non-forum side rather than the vbulletin side.
just some more initial thoughts.
i dont know that it would be a bad idea to host the songs on youtube...like making a CGR channel and putting them on our site. that way people that see it on youtube will hopefully come visit us.
on the other hand, the videos exclusively on our site would be pretty cool. keep throwing out ideas and comments. is there an idea of how many people would be able to submit video tabs? if there are a number of people that would be able to do this, it might be worth it for the community.
i need to research the feasibility in terms of bandwidth and server concerns.

You could also host them on Youtube but just have a more catagorized section on the site that links to the videos on Youtube or embed it on the site...which ever.
I know that Dave D has some existing vids out there. I'd be willing to make some exclusively for CGR.

i need to research the feasibility in terms of bandwidth and server concerns. | I thought of it being video lessons for particular songs. For instance, A user could upload a lesson of how to play "Stars" by switchfoot and other users could watch, comment, and rate the accuracy of the video.
I have not seen a Christian tab site that offers video lessons on particular songs, which would be a neat investment for CGR. More traffic and as far as I can tell the best place to learn guitar for the Christian music you love.
