Yes in that about 3 years ago, insurance was not regulated here, and the industry was open to whatever prices they could get. This meant that a young male such as myself would pay about $4000-5000 per year for the bare minimum insurance. In that comparison to the $1765 that I'm paying, I'm getting a great deal. But on the other hand, I have buddies with maybe a year or 2 more experience who pay less than $1000 per year, which makes little sense (and could be seen as stupid high insurance for my case). Very few of my friends have different coverage, we all have the bare minimum set by the law and what the insurance companies will sell (liability of $1 million). So like I said they may have one or two more years of experience, but have the exact same type of policy, driving records, and areas. Also with the way the grade is set up, other small differences such as types of cars don't really matter, so that doesnt account for the inconsistency either.

She pays a different rate based on discounts and choice of coverage limits than her friends do. |

| How does yours do for gas mileage? I know trucks generally aren't very good for that.

| Mine varies a bit with how/where I'm driving it.... I haven't actually checked it recently. When I first got it, I took a 300 mile road trip with it and it managed to get 29 mpg while averaging probably 70-ish miles per hour. My guess is that you could get somewhere between 25 and 28 for an average. My dad has a new 22R-E engine in his truck that has some mods... and he gets about 27, while making significantly more power than I do. |

| I wish I was hobbit sized so I could comfortably fit in a toyota truck. My dad got a tacoma a few years ago with the intention of driving it until it died, it was just too small. |

He was 6' tall and squeezed in it. I'm 6'2" and did not fit well at all. I hated driving that thing. Plus, it's reliability was not flawless as it needed a new starter at just over 100k miles and had a few other minor issues outside of routine maintenance. Not horrible, but it did nothing for me to ever make me consider buying one for personal use. |
