Return of the Songwriting competition?

In this thread, it was suggested that we bring back the songwriting competitions. All I want is to see how many people would want to see this return so we can try and get it back up and running smoothly sometime soon.

I'd say that anyone who doesn't want to see it doesn't have to look at it, much less take part in it.

That's not really the issue: it's a matter of participation. The Songwriting Competition only really worked when there were a large number of people regularly posting songs for critique. The Songwriting Forum doesn't get the level of participation that it had in the past, so there's not a large body of work to nominate from.

Even at the peak of its activity the songwriting competitions only received a few nominations and a handful of votes each month.

Oh, so you're saying that in order to have it back, everyone needs to... basically post more.

I'm guessing, yes, that's what Skeeter's saying.

One of the reasons I find that it isn't really working is that the Songwriting forum, for me and Small, is like a "sit-and-wait" forum. We rely on someone to post a song they've written. Songwriting isn't something that comes to you overnight, which is basically why we have to wait.

Does this make sense to you guys?

Thanks to everyone who voted for bringing back the competition. I like the idea of having a topic for parodies, just to see some real creativity. What do you guys think?
