All Macs made right now are made with 64 bit processors (Intel Core 2 Duo). But not every application was designed to work in 64 bits. All it's saying is that, if you have a 64 bit processor, which you should if you've bought a Mac within the last few years, then it's going to take full advantage of it, whereas Leopard didn't.
If you only have a 32 bit processor (basically, only applies to the Core Duo since PPC is being left out all together), then your Mac can still run Snow Leopard and it'll run everything perfectly fine in 32 bit. You just don't get all the added advantages of 64 bit.
