| So, once upon a time I was a moderator in this forum! Hey guys,
So, about 6 years ago, I was a moderator in this forum (actually was one of the guys that pushed for it to get started too), and had long sense disappeared, haha. Wow, a lot has happened since then (graduated from both high school and college, now in grad school, haha). So, just thought I'd reintroduce myself! I'm Phil, and am now after years starting to get back into visiting CGR, it's amazing how time flew since then!
I used to drive a '97 Toyota 4Runner SR5, and I loved my baby! It was such a great, reliable, and TOUGH SUV, if I had pics of it I would post it (redbaron, I remember you had a 4Runner too, or still do, correct?). Treated me well all throughout high school and most of college, and I accumulated so many awesome memories in that car, I miss it! Well, I ended up selling it to one of my friends in college right before I started my senior year, and decided to splurge on my dream car (before I get married one day and my wife tells me I can't have one! ). So, I did European Delivery on a new '07 BMW 335i, and after two years still love it as much as the day I picked it up in Munich, Germany. It's the closest thing I have to a baby now, and literally is my stress relief (whenever I've had a stressful day, I tackle curvy roads with it, haha).
Anyway, just wanted to say hey, it's good to be back!

| Oh, I know that it is a rule on most car forums you have to post pics of your car when you introduce yourself, so here are a couple of pics of it on a snowy day outside of Munich, and one interior shot in my driveway at home! The pics from Munich are from a couple days after I picked it up, and the interior pic is from about a couple months after when it arrived back in the States.
Now it has 45,000 more hard driven miles on it, and there will be many more to come! I'm hoping I can get 200,000 out of this one!

Nice looking 335i. I am glad to hear that it delivers what you want in the twisties.

| I actually sold my 4runner to my parents in '05 when I bought the galant and then my dad traded it back to me for my talon (mattslopes old one), so i've actually still got it
~222k right now
Nice bimmer, a friend of mine just picked up an 08 M3 sedan a few months back and it's dead sexy |

Nice bimmer, a friend of mine just picked up an 08 M3 sedan a few months back and it's dead sexy | Haha, awesome! I bet it is nice to have it back, I sometimes wish I could buy my 4Runner back from my friend I sold it to (not like I'd have to money to though). Actually, I had a dream about it riding around in it last night and getting misty-eyed wanting it back, haha. Funny because it had 222k miles on it in my dream too (don't know how many it actually has now as I haven't seen it in over a year, but probably not that many). I think there just is a special attachment to your first car. Funny how you had mattslopes' old Talon, I think I remember him posting pics of it way back in the day!
Wow, an E90 M3! I bet that thing is a beauty! Thanks for the compliments on the Bimmer, I'll be driving this one into the ground, it's been good so far! Not as reliable as the 4Runner was, but it still has had pretty minimal problems at least so far.
Oh, LaserRacer, I like the ValuJet avatar, haha! I remember when they used to fly out of Mobile too before the accidents and they changed to AirTran. Just curious, does your name imply that you race Laser sailboats?

As to the the name, yes it in fact does (and you may be the first one to have picked up on it...definately the first to bring it up)... I don't race anymore...unfortunately I haven't really had any time since graduating high school...however I do get to go out and sail occasionally.
As to the car I don't think you will ever be able to run it into the ground as long as you maintain it... Just don't go out harrassing the older M3s with it (we all know you are faster in a straight line, you don't need to rub it in )

| don't worry, those of us who know nothing bmw makes is fast in a straight line won't let him rub it in too much
also, lasers are some of the most fun in the entire world, srsly. I'm hoping to take the yacht club's "bathtub" out tomorrow since I can put a whole family worth of people in it and take 'em sailing & my dinghy is needing some TLC before I get out again (Ranger 12). |

| I'm just going to say this about straight lines.... Once you're quicker than about 12 seconds in the quarter, it's all bragging rights, and not much more fun to drive.

I would have to agree that being fast in a straight line doesn't mean everything, there certainly is more to the driving experience than that!
Awesome that you used to race Lasers! I actually learned how to sail on a Sunfish, so I'm quite familiar with Lasers. Glad to see another sailor here too!
