I'll stick with the group who believes in and strives for goodness, even when one of them stumbles.

| I call them "the liars".
Seriously: "got drunk one night" is "stumbles". Have always gone too far with women while away and for the past near-decade have been having an affair that requires tremendous preparation to have sounds more like a personality.
And it continues now. He's not stepping down because that would be "the easy way" for his state, his family, and basically everyone he's supposed to care about. |

But sure, it's possible that what you say is true. | I think that there can be a difference between whether someone is a good person and a good leader. I think that an adulterer could be an excellent governor.
But that's not always true either.. because sometimes the ideas overlap. That Palin had a pregnant unmarried teenage daughter said nothing about whether her economic policy was right or wrong; but it does suggest that her "how to stop teenage pregnancy" and "how to preserve the sanctity of marriage" beliefs were questionable. |

I hope you are not going to try and assert otherwise, because you seem pretty smart. So, given that, I'm not sure what your point is... should we have rules or not? You seem to condem the behavior and the espouse the group that accepts it.
And please don't get me wrong... I'm not defending Sanford one bit. He's not sorry, except that he's been caught.
