I have to give this a 9.

So, i've never really been a mewithoutYou listener, though I have all their albums on my computer (my brother is a big fan and buys their music). I mean a listen to a few songs here and there, but i've never actually gone and listened to a full album before.

Well, my brother bought this right away and was listening to it a lot, and so I was hearing a lot of it and I was really loving the vocal melodies. So I listened to it. I can't STOP listening to it.

The album is incredible, diverse, incredibly catchy and eccentric. I love the lyrics, and as I had mentioned before, the vocal melodies are awesome. He doesn't do his yelling like their famous for (except on the song "Bullet To Binary (pt. two)")
What's keeping it from a 10? There is one song I don't really like, I find it too annoying, it's called "Fig With a Bellyache"
I highly recommend this album for someone looking for a rather laid back album with great melodies, originality, and lyrics.

Fig with a Bellyache is the only thing I can find that I don't love on this album as well. 9

I love this album. It's NOT classic mwY but it's still great in diversity. I like "Fig with a Bellyache". It makes me think...a lot. Just trying to figure out the meaning behind the song is an adventure.

A lot of people try to decipher a lot of these lyrics into Biblical/Christian meanings, even though the singer got a lot of these lyrics from limerick type things that are known in his father's religion.

Yeah...a lot of Aaron's lyrics are based off Sufi Muslim teachings and stories. That's a part of his background. I think it's astounding to see how he has taken those teachings and related them to his Christian faith. I've studied his lyrics a LOT. I started a thread to discuss them here. I'd love to see that conversation go somewhere.

I would also give this CD a 9, as "Fig With A Bellyache" does make for a rather annoying cog in this musical machine. But I love the lyrics and the different instruments the band uses to create such a beautiful sound. Aaron is probably my favorite lyric writer, they just never cease to amaze me.
