In my opinion there is no discussion. FFVII was the best. I wish they would re-release it for the PS3 unchanged, but with better graphics. Cloud's "4x4" forearms always bothered me. FFVII Crisis Core for PSP was great as well. Honorable mentions would include FF Tactics and FFIX. The whole series matched only by the series of Metal Gear games, although I didn't really care for MGSII with Rayden. I have yet to play MGS4 for the PS3 but hope to buy and play it before the summer is out. Unfortunately, I turned 30 this year and it seems like the older I get the less time there seems to be for video games. As it stands I have not played a video game in 18 months.

Personally, I don't get why everyone says VII was the best. There wasn't anything special about it to me.

Well there are over 18 (yes i attempted to count)
Not counting remakes and other sides of the same story, or the ones that where not her ein the usa (and I know I missed some)
And i do like VII it had a very nice story and to me had to RPG feeling to it
If there is such a thing and I don’t care for some of the new ones they are good but I think V11 was the lucky number

I thought it was pretty special. Just a combination of what at the time were very impressive graphics, and what I think is the best story line by far of any FF game. Though I am still a big softie for FF4.

Was ff4 released in the US? I don't think I have ever heard any specifics on it. I ahve played 1-3, but I know nothing of 4 or , and I heard 6 was a remake of sorts of 3...

At the time it was completely revolutionary. Not only that but the storyline was awesome and Cloud was a freaking BAMF when he wasn't wondering who he was. Sephiroth is a a great bad guy. The supporting cast was amazing. The love story is beautiful. And the depth of all the sidequests and extras... It really is amazing.
