| Best of 2009 (so far) I start these usually half way through the year to keep up on new music, due to the fact I don't do it much on own.
The only album I've heard this year that has really taken me has been the new mewithoutyou.
Also, the John Vanderslice/Mountain Goats tour EP is perfect, but being a tour EP limited to 1000 copies, I don't know if it should count at all.
Hit me with the goods!

| The Mars Volta, VersaEmerge and Mastodon, in that order.
Green Day sucked (as expected), Lacuna Coil was decent but quite unimpressive, and I need to get the new Emery.
Releases I'm interested/excited for are: John Mayer (hopefully), Thrice, Mute Math, Muse, Feist (huge maybe), Jay-Z and Killswitch Engage - although I'm not expecting much from those last two.

| I'm gona have to go with the new U2 album as well. I haven't kept track of new music very well as of late, but I really liked No Line on The Horizon.
I am interested in hearing the new mewithoutyou album as well.

| The new Wilco record is their best since Yankee Hotel. I'd say it's on par with Summer Teeth.
BTW, it's close to the end of the decade. Are we going to do a best of 00's tournament when the year is over? I think we should.

| I really like the new Grizzly Bear, first time in ages I can remember liking such a Pitchfork-y album this much. I've also enjoyed:
The Appleseed Cast - Sagarmartha
Tim Hecker - An Imaginary Country
Isis - Wavering Radiant
maudlin of the Well - Part the Second
Towers - Full Circle
I like the new mewithoutYou but I really miss his yelling.
I was very disappointed by the new dredg. Can't remember what else I've heard. |
