Then consider that with basic weight reduction, we're looking at a car that weighs just a couple hundred pounds more than an Elise. Throw in the chassis, drivetrain, suspension, and brakes from the winning-est touring car ever built...... and you end up with a machine unlike any other. Keep in mind that the only body/chassis parts that the E30 M3 shares with the rest of the 3-series, is the hood and the doors. Faster or more powerful doesn't always equal more fun. I can tell you haven't driven the X-1/9 in a while. Quote:

So including taxes, options, etc... out the door price will be at LEAST 120-130k. That seems like supercar cash to me. Perhaps not Enzo-like price, but not really 'sports car' money either.

Euro model 143 kW (194 PS; 192 hp) / 147 kW (200 PS; 197 hp)
US model 143 kW (194 PS; 192 hp)
True, you can modify the crap out of them, but they aren't terribly fast stock. Don't get me wrong, they are far more car than I own. Even a broken one beats my broken toys. Quote: |

| You are looking at the same out the door price for a 911 Carrera 4S, which is definitely more sports car than super car. The 4.2 liter R8 is the same money, and it is aimed squarely at the 911 range, not the more expensive but arguably not super car Gallardo or F430. I'd suggest that super cars fall into the Murcielago, Enzo, Pagani Zonda territory, and they are 3 times the asking price of a ZR1. |

| I really like the redneck mobiles.
This is my dream car: F-350 Crew Cab. 6.0 Twin turbo diesel (although Ford screwed up to ever abandon the indestructible 7.3 liter diesel engine).
