Chorus pedal recommendations

Hey everybody, I am working toward building an effects board. Right now I am using a Bos me50, but would like something more versatile. Once my board comes together it will be a SBN Trinity (Distortion/overdrive/boost), a Boss DD-3, andddd that's about it. Small and simple and I will be looking to replace the DD-3 eventually and possibly add another boost.

Anyways, one of the settings I use constantly on the me50 is the chorus (mostly the straight up chorus but sometimes I will use the stereo chorus) and was wondering what you guys recommend in terms of resonance and tone as far as chorus pedals go. It will be used in a mostly praise and worship setting. Thanks!

I use a DOD FX69 Icebox Chorus. At least I think that's the exact model number. It's listed in the effects thread sticky at the top of the forum if you want to check it out. I picked it up for about $25-30 shipped to my door off eBay. It works for what I need it for and has enough tonal variety for me. If you have any questions about it, let me know and I'll see if I can answer them for you.

The Dano Cool Cat Chorus is pretty inexpensive and simple. The Small Clone is simplest of them all, and if I was going for a really flexible/tweakable chorus, I might look into a TC Electronic Stereo Chorus Flanger.

Thanks for the suggestions man. I think I will go for a more versatile one. I love putting it over distorion on solos, but I also use it stand alone.

The EH Stereo Polychorus is cheaper than the TC Electronic, too. I haven't heard many, though. Looks pretty sweet, though.

Have you heard anything about the digitech hardwire series chorus pedal? i was looking at that one and it seemed pretty solid.

I don't use chorus but in my experience, you can't go past old DOD stuff for this kind of thing. They're solid, quality pedals and you can get them really cheap. I had their stereo chorus at one point and it was great.

I know of a lot of people that hate it for some reason, but I use a Boss CE-5. I got it used for $40, and I've always liked it. It's stereo, and it works for what I use it for, so don't complain, and I recommend giving one a shot.

I've only owned the EHX Small Clone, but I don't think I'd ever need another. It's kind of a one trick pony, but it does that trick VERY well. It's the pedal that Cobain used, but don't let that turn you off.

I have an Ibanez Chorus / Flanger that is really cool sounding but I rarely use the Flanger effect. They were relatively inexpensive, and I'm not positive they are still in production, but if you get a chance check it out. It's a very versatile pedal with a lot of adjustment range.

My Red Witch Empress is the most amazing chorus I've ever used. It's a bit pricey but I scored a GREAT deal on e-Bay.

+1, this pedal is great!
you should also look into the visual sound H2O. more expensive, but it's supposed to be really nice.

Totally forgot about the stereo output option. Mine has it, but I've never used it.
