Since when was fa il a dirty word?

Is it just me or are a lot of four lettered f words censored? I thought it was more than just "fa-il" and the obvious one, but I may be delusional.

So we can censor things because they irritate us now?

I am actually angry that F A I L and E P I C are filtered.

I'd be considerably less angry if
1) This was known to be not a permanent filter
2) They filtered to other words instead of smiley faces. That's ALWAYS funny.

1) I'm pretty sure it's not going to be permanent.
2) I think this was the original plan, but vBulletin doesn't have a built-in word replacement filter, just a censoring one.

The main thing is that we couldn't censor the phrase "epic fail" together, so we censored each word individually.

I don't know much about vBulletin, but is there a way to censor f-a-i-l only in CPF? It's making some posts in other forums (where the word is used legitimately) slightly confusing.
