Question Wanting to buy a new amp, need help.

Hi everyone, I'm Timothy from Oklahoma. I play electric guitar for my church, I'm thinking about getting a new amp here in next month. I'm considering the Vox Night Train, Orange Tiny Terror, Egnater rebel 20 head, and rebel 30. I'm open to any suggestions. (More info below) Thanks, Timothy

-Price Range - wanting to keep the price under $600

-Why do you need it? 50% practice, 50% performance

Will you be playing out with it? yes

If so, what sorts of places are you looking to play? at church, and a few other venues around town

Are you planning to mic the amp? probably,(high wattage not necessary)

Will you have to rely on just your amp's volume from time to time? yes

-Frequency -
How often are you going to be playing out? we practice about 3 times a week, and play at least once a week.

Is this something that's going to be used alot, or just once a month? very often

-Musical Style - Lincoln Brewster, Fee, Hillsong, Kutless, Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin (mostly worship and rock, but definably not hardcore)

-Current Setup -
What amp and guitar do you currently have? Fender VG American Strat, Line 6 spider III, and a Crate cabinet
What sort of effects do you use? Boss GT-10, boss DS-1, and Boss Flanger (like bf-3 or something like that)
What is it about your setup that feels deficient? The amp,
In other words, why do you want a new amp? The line 6 does not not sound good, it does not give a rich and full sound.

-Experience -
How long have you been playing guitar? 2.5 years
Have you tried out amps already? i had a Marshall JCM600 212 borrowed for a while, but it sounded terrible with my gt-10, by its self it was ok. (not a good clean sound)
Which/How many?

-Personal Research -
What amps are you interested in? Vox Night train, Vox ac-15, Egnater Rebel 20 and 30, Orange TT, Fender Hot Rod,
Are you interested in getting a combo setup, or getting a head and cabinet separate? Really does not matter, just whatever sounds the best for the money
Tube? Solid State? Tube

-Shopping -
Where do you plan on buying from? Guitar Center or local music store. Possibly ebay or craigslist
Do you want to purchase this new, or are you willing to be a little more patient and pick up a used model? Preferably new

-Timeline -
How soon do you need a new amp? No deadline, but I'm wanting to get one in the next month
Do you already have the money for it, or is this something you're saving towards? have most of the money

Again, thanks for the help everyone. If you have any questions, just ask.

I'd say that the VOX AC15 should fit your needs well. However, It does not have lots of clean headroom, but it seems like you will be micing it, so i guess it doesn't really matter too much.

If you can, try to get it with the alnico blue speaker upgrade, it will blow you away.

Vox amps are particular about the pedals they take. An AC15 may very well take his pedals nicely, but then again, it may not. For the situation he's going to be using it at I would recommend a Blackstar HT-5. It's only $300 for the amp head or $400 for the head and cab or combo version. This will give him two channels and will get loud, even at 5 watts. I'm not sure how well they take pedals because I haven't had a chance to try any pedals through one, but they sound good by themselves. Also, they have a headphone jack with an emulated speaker cab (1x12" or a 4x12") which would be great for practicing of the nights or running direct into a PA system.

Not sure. I only had a chance to play it for about five minutes so I didn't have a chance to crank it. Besides, it was in Guitar Center so we all know how that goes. Anyway, I'll probably be ordering one of these soon and I'll let you know once I get it.

I'm still in the process of building a Red llama clone (as I have no time) but RAT's go really well with AC15's, but TS clones aren't as friendly with AC15's. Shame, as I've got a really nice T-Rex Dr. Swamp. Nevermind.
