One thing at a time. Can you play the first measure of the song?

Guitar strings are $5, plus maybe $5 shipping on any online music store. It's no more expensive than ordering a pack of batteries. And you don't have to drive anywhere. And actually, to get anywhere in Houston, the fourth largest guitar store filled city in America, takes at least anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. I've thought it was funny how people who live in the country think that something like a 30 minute drive was a big deal. I probably spend two to three hours in the car on any given day.

Tip: Buy guitar strings more than one set at a time. You know you'll use them eventually...

I always have at least 2-3 sets at any given time.

I second this. All you need to know are 4 chords, G, D, Em & C or A, E, F#m & D, depending on what key you play it in.

In G it's simple and you almost don't have to move your left hand if you play it like this:

G = 320033
D = xx0323
Em = 022033
C = x32033

I've also played it with all power chords, you don't get the fullness in sound but it's doable.

G = 355xxx
D = x577xx
Em = x799xx
C = x355xx

Okay. No point in going further until you can make the first measure sound good. Work on that over and over and over, ignoring the rest of the song, until you're happy with just that one measure. Then move on to the next.

Eventually your learning will speed up, but for now just take it one little itty bitty piece at a time.

Do you know how a pygmy eats an elephant? One bite at a time.

Be patient and work on very small portions. Eventually you'll have the whole song down.

I typically play it in D which makes it:

D = X577XX
A = 577XXX
Bm = 799XXX
G = 355XXX

Depends upon what sound your're looking for. Once you get the basic progression down you can slide it to other keys and keep the same pattern.

You must have an amazing vocal range because A is as high as I'm comfortable singing it in.

Haha. I don't sing. I leave that up to two others in the band. I just play the guitar.

Oh, this explains it haha! Even for a congregation though I would think that's too high but that's just me.

Easiest song of all time... easier than any these other guys posted...

Brain Stew - Green Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYUen...eature=related

There's the song, it transitions into Jaded at the 3 minute mark. Jaded isn't hard either if you wanna learn it... though it may be above your level still.

More easy songs...

(these are songs I remember from middle/highschool)

Thousand Foot Krutch - Phenomenon
Green Day - When I Come Around
Sum 41- Fat Lip (if you can learn that intro you will increase your skill greatly, make sure you use a Drop-D tab, there used to be standard tuning ones but they are wrong)
Blink 182 - All the Small things...

Most of those are way easier than pretty much anything anybody in here has been posting.
