Eating certain foods effect ur voice?

I've been looking at a few threads on food, and I've heard that certain drinks[acidic type] can ruin ur voice, other than alcohol.

I could use some insight on the food and drinks I eat in order to get a better insight for my singing voice.

Pretty much... don't eat starches or consume anything with a lot of sugar or alcohol before singing. They can't ruin your voice, but if you do it before hand it can make you sound terrible. Now, smoking is really bad for singers, and if you have acid reflux then you should take something for it. But no food will ruin your vocal chords, just make you sound terrible after consuming them.

Yeah, me and my band had lunch halfway through practice one time.... baaaad idea, lol. As a singer, your core stays tight as you articulate notes via airflow from your lungs into your resonating chambers. The result after eating.... poor digestion and the occasional baby burp halfway through a long note

Oh, and hope like heck its not gas the food gave you

Yes certain foods can effect your voice. I say can because certain foods effect people in different ways.

I had the privilege to work with a vocal coach who has worked with many artists like Tenth Avenue North, Natalie Grant, Fireflight, Matthew West....

She said that I for me personally (because of the amount of singing I do) I should...

1)Stop eating dairy (milky/creamy foods) two days before every show...

2)Stop drinking Soda/Coffee/Tea...

3)If I'm going to eat before a show I should make sure it's at least 3 hours before I hit the stage...

I was also sent to a couple doctors because my voice started going down hill slowly over a 3 year period. They found out I have Asthma and that I has a bad case of Bronchitis.

So, you never know what will help your voice. I thought changing my diet helped and then I found out I have Asthma (now I'm taking 8 pills a day and using an inhaler daily). That's really helped my voice. I can sing with ease again.

Pay attention to your diet... See what effects you in a bad was. Also pay attention to what helps your voice. And also make sure your lungs are working properly!

Hope this helps!!
