Post What is prayer?

Do you define prayer as the time where you spend talking to God? That is the definition that I most often hear. If so, read on and give some thought to a different definition.

I contend that prayer is a time of Communion with God. Communion is a two way thing. Yes, I say or ask things from God during prayer but don't forget to take the time to let Him speak back.

If you haven't tried this before, do it and I guarantee that you will experience a revival within your soul like nothing you have ever felt before…

Send a message via AIM to CHRISTISLORD200
Explain what you mean by "letting Him speak back."

You have a point, but I think by using the word communion rather than the word talking you're just nit-picking over words. Is talking to someone not a 2-way thing?

And also I would guarantee a total soul revival. Things like this can sometimes take a while, and if someone's expecting instant gratification they can get disappointed and give up.

yes, letting him reply does require patience, and some time, but if you ask Him about anything He will reply. maybe by that amazingly awesome little voice in the back of your mind, or through somebody else. but prayer is talking WITH Him, not just to Him.

I would say prayer is spending time communicating with God, speaking to Him and listening to Him. That would be my quick definition

I believe inviting God into your everyday life and speaking to Him whenever/ letting him speak to you in the silences is prayer. So it is possible to be continually praying in that respect.
For example:
" I can't find a parking space. I really hope I can get one before the movies starts, Lord"
TA DA - one appears out of nowhere. Or it doesn't and God calls you to wrestle with him about it, just in case you doubt it was him who provided that parking space. (it is funny how often we overlook that sort of thing when we didn't specifically ask, but we just invited him to take part in the journey)
