| Naked Lunch Yep, the infamous Burroughs novel, if you could call it a novel; I read somewhere that Burroughs didn't even call it one. Anyway, I'm almost finished with this and honestly I don't know what to think. Parts of it have made me laugh out loud but other parts have been quite possibly the only pieces of literature that have offended me (like the scene with Johnny and Mary). Anybody else read this? |

| I have read it 2 or 3 times now. I've spent alot of time deconstructing it and thinking about what it is all about. With that being said, I fully believe that it's the most brutally honest and terrifying book about drug addiction that the world has ever seen.
I think the rumor of Burroughs not remembering writing the entire thing is incredible, but in a sad sort of way.
Burroughs is my favorite beat writer, if that means anything.

I did like Junky a lot and I want to read some more of his stuff but I keep putting it off because I assume it'll be difficult. |

| I find Naked Lunch to be probably the most difficult of his works. Junky and Queer were probably the easiest, but still pretty great.

| Junky is one of my favorite books...Naked Lunch is a lot tougher, but it's well worth slugging it out. |

| With this being around the 50th anniversary for the book, I picked it back up and have been reading through it slowly.
It's still as goundbreaking now as ever, I think.
