NFL Offseason 2009

I was going to start a thread about this whole Favre to the Vikings issue, but figured I might as well include other offseason stories too.

Anyway, I think it's ridiculous that Favre wants to unretire for a second time. Seriously. Stay away.

He tried revenge last year. Didn't work out so great; he got injured late in the season and blew the team's shot at the playoffs by throwing a ridiculous amount of interceptions.

Now he wants to try to get revenge again this year. Granted, he probably has a better shot in Minnesota since the Vikes play the Packers twice. And the Vikings have more offensive threats than the Jets did. Still, though, I personally am getting sick of him holding press conferences saying he's done with football, only to turn around a few months later and decide he wants revenge. What a dope.

Favre, most annoying story of the offseason two years running. *sigh*

Edit: Actually, at least three seasons.

He says; he'll be making a decision by July 30th, will it then finally be over?

P.s., I secretly wanted the VIkings to get Peppers, although I know that he doesn't want to play in a 4-3 defense, could you imagine? The Freak, Jared Allen, and the Williams' Wall? Lights out d-line.

He doesn't want to play in a 4-3 because he is not as effective in a 4-3... But yeah, that would be crazy.

Are the Williamses going to be allowed to play? Last I heard they were still suspended.

Also Shawne Merriman called, he wants "Lights Out" back.

Speaking of which, if Merriman is healthy this year, San Diego's defense should be ridiculous again. There's no reason the Chargers shouldn't win the AFC West easily...of course, we said that last year too

As a Broncos fan, it pains me to say it, but I have to agree.

Williams' Playing to start the season for now...

As far as Shawn Merriman is concerned. I believe it was his defense that allowed Adrian Peterson to rush for 296 yards two seasons ago. He hasn't played in a year, if he wants to retain that title; he's got to reestablish himself as a dominant force.

Adrian Peterson put up huge numbers against everyone two years ago. Heck, he put up huge numbers last season too. Doesn't change the fact that Merriman made the Pro Bowl all three of his full seasons and averaged about 13 sacks a season during that time. If he's really 100% going into this season, then I have no doubts that he'll reestablish himself as the league's premier pass rusher.

I hope he comes back, but he really jacked up his knee (I think it was 2-3 ligaments). Some athletes don't recover from that. Hopefully, he comes back full force.

The Freak is Jevon Kearses nickname.

D'ho! You're right. Espn called him "the freakishly athletic Julius Peppers" I got confused.
