| I've had a Michael Kelly Valor Limited for the past few years and I can vouch for it. I got it new for about $400, although you can find them cheaper via eBay. It has build quality that surpasses most other guitars in the price range, and it looks and sounds at least twice what it costs. It has a set neck that feels great, I had four to choose from in the store and while all of them felt good, I picked the one that I thought felt best. It has a Spalted Maple top that looks amazing and that always gets a good reaction from people when they see it.
It has rockfield pickups and one of the main reasons why I bought it was that it sounded like a Gibson. The guitarist in my Dad's band had a 1970s Gibson Les Paul Custom that I always drooled over. It felt similar to the Michael Kelly, and I could nail the tone too.
It also has coil tapping, so I can get single coil tones out of it too. If you're looking for a very versatile, Gibson-like guitar that has solid build quality and an affordable price, definately look into Michael Kelly.
