Just a quick bump to remind everyone that this game officially shipped today, so your favorite retailer of electronic and/or gaming goods should have it in stock by tomorrow. I'm going to pick up my copy in the morning while I'm in town running errands.

I'm also considering making a quick run through the NES game before going to bed tonight, in honor of the occassion

So I got the game, been playing it off and on today, and it's really, really, really fun. They absolutely nailed the transition from the NES to the Wii, in my opinion. And to those wondering, yes, this game definately still puts up a nasty fight. The last two boxers both KO'ed me once and the guy I'm currently fighting has beaten the tar out of me a couple times so far.

These are just some initial impressions, but I think Punch Out fans are going to be very happy with this one.

Man, this game is the real deal, y'all. I'm roughly a little more then halfway through the main section as of tonight, and things are getting brutal. After the initial run through of the fighters, a new mode opens up called 'Title Defense' where you have to fight the entire roster again, only this time they are much, much tougher. Some of them have figured out ways to compensate for their weaknesses (King Hippo duct tapes a manhole cover over his belly, for instance) but all of them hit harder, faster and move in trickier patterns then before. It's really beginning to remind me more and more of the later fights in MTPO; yes, they're certainly beatable, but you're likely going to need many, MANY trys aganist everybody in this mode.

Something else I've really been wanting to comment on is how enjoyable all of the voice acting is, and I love that the developers chose to have foreign boxers speak in their native tongues (though I guess subtitles might have been nice ). It would've been so much easier just to have english voice actors using cheesy accents (speaking of which, the foreign english speakers do have great accents!), but this approach adds so much more atmosphere to the game. And Doc is hilarious. I've never seen so much terrible advice involving so many chocolate bars.

This game rules. I popped it in for the first time last night and busted out the Wii Fit balance board, so I could get the full Wii experience. It's so much fun actually dodging the punches. There's definitely a learning curve to it. I mean, Glass Joe knocked me down. I need to work on my dodging skills. Like sometimes I move my upper body to the left to dodge left, but I guess I put weight on my right leg, so I dodge the wrong way! It's still a lot of fun though!
