acrylics, oils, or watercolors?

what is your favorite kind of paint and why? personally I prefer oils because of their texture, but after ruining lots of clothes, I use acrylics a lot more

I like acrylics because they dry so quickly... I have an oil that I am working on, and it's a layer painting... and the first layer has been drying for over 24 hours and it's STILL too wet to paint on... ugh...

I do a bit of watercolor painting, various stuff in art class aside... never really got a chance to check out acrylic or oil yet, though, since I'm just getting started and don't have the money for anything but a cheapo (and lousy ) beginner's kit. Don't like watercolors too much though, except for painting skies or water.

I love oils! Awesome fun to paint with, but they can get annoying.

My favourite medium to be working in, is actually water colour pastels! Caren Dache. AWESOME to work in!

I also love Caren Dache wax pastels! Really good and clear and bright and fun and you get a great finished product!

pastels just do NOT work for me! I love the way they look when other people use them, but I can't seem to do it right.

yeah oils are great, but they do take FOREVER to dry... usually like 3 weeks for it to totally dry... and if you are doing a sky with blue and yellow... sometimes it turns green, lol... and they ruin clothes really bad!

so I guess I like acrylics the best I think although you are more limited with them.

So far, I've really only worked with acrylics, but I have a feeling I'll like them best.

Matt, I'm left handed too!!!! :ksmile:

Oh, I'm getting a scanner soon, so I'll post my first painting and get input from ya'll on it

God's blessings,
Melissa

Hey, is this the gathering of the left-handed? I'm left handed too. I don't paint with acrylics or oils but I have risen up to the level of colored pencils

Acrylics. Anyone ever heard of Jean Claude Gaugy? Cool stuff that inspires me. Here's tip: If you get Acrylic paint on something, even if it's already dried, just soak it in cold water and then put detergent on it. Leave like that for a while and keep it moist.
