| Your personal opinion... Now I know that personal opinions and preferences don't count when it comes to worship. It is supposed to be about God and not us. However, I'm just curious about people's opinions on organ music in the church. What do YOU think of it? |

| Here is an excellent article that deals with the Satanic music movement. I personally believe organ music falls into that category.

Some people think organ music is the only music allowed in church. They are wrong. I have heard some pretty awesome organ players. I used to play a Roland GR-33 Synth pedal with a Godin Electric in church and I would back my self up with the 'rock' organ, which basically was a Lesley Oscillating organ. That sound pretty much kicks but with some of the more contemporary stuff we played, especially behind a little distorted guitar. My pastor used to frown at me when I would get a little excited with my guitar playing.
Then there are the churches that use the organ to instill a somber mood with prelude instrumentals, and I personally don't like that. Nothing wrong with it I guess, I just don't like to start church as if it were going to be a funeral.

It is really just a preference, as you stated in your original post. That is the beauty of many different churches with many different styles. You can pick the one that fits you, after you have established that it is biblicaly sound.

| I can appreciate a wide variety of music and I love and want to preserve our church's musical heritage, as well as leading it forward into new more modern musical forms. Classical organ repertoir is vast and contains some very exciting, contemplative, and beautiful music. We can have both, too many church goers see this as an us against them issue, instead of an issue of preference. Why not offer both, we do!! A traditional organ/choir led service for those who prefer it, and a contemporary service with a band for those who enjoy that. I take part in both services, because I love it all. |

#14 | | Dragon of Spirit | I want to have some heavier worship done with an organ instead of piano/keyboard in our church. Too bad we don't have people to play it.
