Effect Building

Hey guys so Im just about to start building my first effect and so i thought i would be nice to blog it here. I still need to buy some parts but i should be getting them tomrorow or the day after. I have 2 projects that im going to be working on. First is a GGG Tube screamer clone. The second a GGG rat clone. So far i have the enclosures, PCBs, and the stuff included in Shane's green hardware kit. I shall put up pictures and such as the build progresses.

Looking forward to seeing your build! Do you have any cool ideas for the enclosures?

So i was going to keep up to date with this but i havent really had time. However I have put all the parts together for my RAT clone. There is sound(yay). There's a lot of feedback though. there is sound and the pots work and stuff just theres a lot of noise which shouldnt be there. Also the LED doesnt work but I wasnt sure where the resister Shane sent was suppose to go so i didnt put it in haha. Im going to try and put some pictures up soon but im wondering if anyone has any ideas what might be cause all the noise and if you can tell me where the resistor is suppose to go it will be greatly appreciated.

The resistor goes between the positive lead of the LED and the positive on the 9v jack. It's a limiting resistor, meaning that it takes some of the juice away before it hits the LED. You may have fried the LED. I'll let someone with a little more info than me weigh in on that though. If you need another LED, shoot me a PM or you can pick one up at radio shack.

If you post some clear pics of the insides of the pedal we may be able to help with the noise. Congrats on getting it fired up!
