This thread hereby stands as an ongoing dedication to the Worst Hip-Hop in the World. Please don't respond with "Oh all hip-hop sucks" or "I hate hip-hop". There's lots of good hip-hip out there too. But lately the hip-hop scene has been slammed with some absolutely ugly pieces.

Today's pick goes to Akon's Beautiful. Some of Akon's music I had actually regarded as somewhat tolerable- until Beautiful. Musically combining the worst elements of dance, hip-hop, and Wal-Mart bargain-bin lyrics, it is clear that something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Akon utters "I see you in the club/You showin' thugs love/I wanna get with you." Again exuding exceptional class, he says "Can I be your baby father/Girl I just wanna show you/That I love what you are doin' hun." Plus, he "never wants to see (her) cry" and "never wants to tell a lie."

In all honesty, I don't know if I'd consider Akon hip-hop. He croons more than raps. He's more of an R&B guy, though R&B as a genre catch-all has been stretched to a breaking point, much like the term "punk" or "hardcore."

I'd vote Kanye West. He can't flow and his beats are underdeveloped.

From a musical standpoint I agree but culturally (especially with respect to the overall expansion of hip-hop within the last 10 years) I think Akon is regarded as hip-hop.

If Kanye West is the worst hip-hop artist you've ever heard, I envy you. I'm not jumping at the chance to defend Kanye the rapper but Kanye the producer is (or was) rarely matched.

Soulja Boy is the answer to this thread - end of discussion.

I haven't heard anything from Brokencyde or Hollywood Undead, thank goodness.
