I can sort of sing as Jon said but not no John Mayer, but when I play guitar and sing everything falls apart. Then again I've only played guitar for under a year... but I still feel that I want to sing really bad.
Then sing!

I don't personally sing but I can play both Piano and Guitar, more so guitar. I really love playing music but I just don't feel that great at it since I can't sing. Believe me I have tried, I'm pretty bad at it, whats your opinion/any thoughts?

I wasn't sure where to post this because it really isn't a guitar question, but then again I don't know if it belongs in theory either, feel free to move this around if it needs to be.
I used to be the same way, but I prayed about it and finally my voice came (and it's actually better than what I had first thought). You just are in the stage where you are still unsure and nervous about your voice. (basically you are not breathing right and your too scared and are holding back instead of letting your voice fully develop)

Also, the way to break the whole "singing and playing at the same time" thing is to go home and to it over, and over, and over, and over again. You have to be able to build up the ability to do them both at the same time. It's just like playing drums or finger picking (or hybrid picking) bass and lead at the same time. You have to build up the ability to do it at once. (it will take a few tries but once you break it, you can do it all the time. It's one of those things that's just like riding a bike; after you learn, you can do it easy)

I still think that not singing doesn't place you as a bad musician. But there is still is room for improvement.

I can't sing right now either but if I don't show up for every service the set list has to change/ I just go with what I am good at until God changes my path....
