Correct me lol..
*Edit
I am the only one in my Church who listens to any form of metal, screamo, and anything like that... So I have alot of my labels wrong lol
And I only know one other person who does listen to things similar to me and he doesn't know either... |
Well, out of your whole list, Haste The Day is the only band I would venture to actually call Metal, and even that is stretching it a bit. All of the bands on your list fall into the Metalcore category. Which is not actually metal at all. Its just an evolution of punk.
When I think of Metal things like Metallica, Megadeth, and Pantera come to mind (I would provide a list of 80's hair metal bands... but that was never my thing, and I dont know the names of any of them except for Stryper).
The OP asked for Metal.
You recommened punk. Punk =/= metal.

| Honestly, looking for good 'metal' while limiting yourself to non-screaming/growling vocals is kind of like trying to drag race a Honda Civic. You might do it, and a select few might do it well. But most of the time, it's going to just suck.

| i have some suggestions...
these bands kinda mix singing singing and screamo stuff together.... i like it : )
some scream more than others and vice versa... i like this style in that you still got like double bass and heavy sound but you also get to hear the lyrics (which ideally the heart behind the christian band reason for music)
i am terrified
agraceful
the almost
underoath
This Beautiful Republic (more rock but they scream some in the second album)
and this band isnt metal or rock really but not many people know them
Hyper Static Union - kinda a christian funk / alternative band

Metalcore is most definitely a metal subgenre. Just because it doesn't sound like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden doesn't mean it isn't metal - any more than U2 not sounding like Elvis or The Beatles doesn't mean they aren't rock. Quote: |

Screamo pretty much = emo - bands like Circle Takes the Square, Kidcrash, Hot Cross, Blood Brothers. Think post-hardcore and you've got the basic idea.

When you call anything with harsh vocals "screamo", it makes as much sense as calling anything with distorted guitar "heavy metal". |

| Tourniquet.
Not exactly new music, but Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm would be an excellent metal album, as would, Where Moth and Rust Destroy.
I would also reccomend megadeth, though I would give the caveat that there are a couple mild "cuss words" on United Abominations, (ironically in a heavily biblically based song) and that there is one on The System Has Failed. Personally, I liked The System has failed, and after listening to Shadow of Deth, you will never see Psalm 23 the same way again. However, I think they actually caught the spirit of the Psalm on that one. Never walk alone is one of the Best songs as far as lyrical content I can think of.

That meets the description to a tea.

Im just goint to be blunt.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
| True dat, when I saw the Chariot and Underoath under the metal brand, I knew right there they weren't metal.
I was also going to suggest some Demon Hunter, but it's already been mentioned. Has anyone recommended 'Carry Me Down' ?

| Thrice is pretty good. It has some screaming but it has a lot of singing too. (At least Illusion of Safety which I have)
Disciple also, they have some screaming but a lot of singing.
They might not be technically metal but I think you might like them. I know I did even when I didn't like screaming. In fact Disciple was the band that got me into screaming lol cause I was able to tolerate their screaming and then I grew to like it. |
