I've been swinging a two-piece. I feel like the flexibility works well with my bat speed, which is likely average at best. That being said, a good hitter will get hits with whatever is put in his/her hands...but the right bat will sure help tack on that extra 15-30'.

I've mostly played outfield, largely L depending on who shows up. Generally OF position priority is LC, L, RC, R in terms of necessary skill level (at least in my league). The guys that usually play LC for us are a bit faster than I am so they can handle the extra range. I will occasionally bounce to RC and the LC and I will cover weak fielders in L and R, or I'll go right and the LC and I will cover a weak RC.

I will also fill in on the infield as needed. I'm probably about average (for my league) at SS and above average at 1B. At SS I'm just streaky. I'll either have a perfect game there or I'll make three or four errors. I'm probably the best 1B on my team, but because the requisite skill level is lower than LF, I usually end up in in the outfield.

Fly ball tracking is...interesting. I wish I had a way of explaining what goes through my head when I'm out there.

Indeed. They tried to drop it on us in the middle of last season. Like, day of game. It was ridiculous.

I'm half expecting to show up on opening day of my church league and find some new bat rules laid out. Last season someone on my team bought a Miken Freak 98 with all of the stamps only to find out it was one of several bats singled out as illegal in our league despite the stamps. Apparently at the managers' meeting the managers decided that despite having the proper stamps it was too hot for our league.

Too hot..... I don't know. I can see both sides, but I think that if a bat meets the certifications for an Association nationally it should be allowed if you are playing under those rules.

Although I do find it amusing with all of these guys shelling out thousands of dollars for their bat collections, only to wake up with cold sweats at night afraid of them all getting banned in the next coupla' years....

Yeah...that's pretty ridiculous. I've thought about picking up more bats, but I've honestly got a lot of other things I'll probably pick up before getting any more high end bats.

Honestly, I think the Freak 98 thing in my league was more about the perspectives of a minority regarding Miken products in general than it actually did with them being "too hot".

Yeah... it is super frustrating to me that I can't even get a nice bat.

First game of winter ball last night! 28 degrees at gametime.... 1-3 with a triple and a walk. Two long flyouts....i was trying to stay on top of the ball but it didnt help me.

28-13 final score, 12 run rule in the fifth.

Nice win. 28 runs is what my summer team might score across three games. Haha

Is that a triple with a fence?

Well done. Even more well done if the OF was any good. One of the benefits of batting lefty in my league is that the RFs are usually pretty bad so anything hit hard past the RF is in-the-park HR potential even though we're fenced.

I just miss hitting. I found a group of guys that takes BP around San Diego on a regular basis and another group that does weekend pickup games, so I'm going to try to hit up one or both groups over the next couple months so I can be going full bore when my March league starts up (assuming I get in this time).

I haven't hit a triple in years. Hahaha. I have had two doubles in two years. I've turned in to a total singles hitter. I used to have oppo power.
