06. The Killers - Sam's Town - Controversial choice? The Killers over Tool? Yep. I never get why people hated this album. Brandon Flowers's songwriting here is just so so great. Sam's Town is unapologetically brash, bold, and ambitious. I understand the valid criticism that it is heavy on the overally obvious Springsteen influence. And I guess I can see why it's not everyone's taste........but I'm still pissed off that it didn't get the recognition it deserves. | The Killers over Tool? Of course you must anticipate my disagreement- you know how much of a rabid Tool fan I used to be. Still, I beg to differ my friend!!
Didn't you think 10,000 Days was a let down? Its not a particularly bad album but its just lacking. It doesn't flow like their previous two. And for God's sake when are they going to release a live DVD. Its getting ridiculous.
I've heard they're playing Lollapalooza.

I've heard they're playing Lollapalooza. | It's one thing if I was saying The Killers are a better band than Tool. That's far from the case. I just really really really really really liked Sam's Town.
10,000 Days didn't interest me that much. I really enjoyed those songs live, however. Tool opened their Bonnaroo set with "The Pot." It was a great opener.

| I had a heart to heart talk with my aunt about the current state of my life at our family's Easter gathering tonight. It was nice, as strangely, I feel like she's the only person in my life who can give me substantial guidance right now for various reasons. I'm so thankful to have a loving and supporting family. Everything else can turn to hell in my life, but I'll always have a kickass family no matter what. That's valuable.
I've always been someone who kept to myself and kept my feelings bottled up. Always, my whole life. I can't get away with that this time. I've been trying that, and it's seriously making me lose my mind. This is just too hard on me for me to try to be "tough". Sometimes, you really can't make it on your own. So, I've been forced to open up a bit. And it's helping keep me sane.

| What the crap, Bonnaroo is like 2 months away. It's sneaking up on me. Time to start thinking about wardrobe. For those unfamiliar, part of the fun of Bonnaroo is the outrageous style that accompanies it. People dress goofy, some dress cool, some go naked. I'm thinking about going the goofy route, but I doubt it. Most likely, I'll go the cool route with a black and red color scheme. Vintage black (with red on the details) long sleeve western shirt, red bandana, and red sunglasses. I thought about going with this shirt, but it just screams "Rage Against The Machine" to me, and that's not what I'm going for. I need to find the right shirt.

If only I could go.... | I understand if you're not going to be able to make it. You've gotta do what you've gotta do right now. I just hope I don't have to go alone. That will be so damn depressing. I don't even know if I could have a good time. I don't think it's worth it to pay $300 to be sad. Hopefully something will work out for me.

In the event of that slight, slight chance that you make it, you are welcome to drive up to southeast Tennessee on the 10th, crash at my place (I'll have my own place by then), and we could make the 1 hour drive to Manchester on the 11th.

| I want to learn to do this. Whoever is behind the Rotten Apple Series took an insignificant song that Paul McCartney improvised in an interview a couple of years ago and made a legitimate song out of it with Paul's vocals intact. And it sounds great.
Watch this first: the original
Then see what the guy does with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpxBfhJIJPM
Simply awesome. I'm very impressed. I want to be able to do stuff like that.
BTW, that's not McCartney's youtube channel. It's a dummy channel.
