I will surely be deaf when I am old, because when upset the volume creeps louder and louder. I used to drink coffee like a fiend. Had a caffeine overdose. (as in hospitalized) That kind of ended that fascination.
I don't smoke merely because I have crap for lungs. Liked the hookah when I tried it, and the occasional cigar, but I have to baby my lungs. Taken too much damage from other things. Where I work though smells of cigarettes quite thoroughly, as do half of my clothes. |

I like the wrestling analogy. It reminds me of a line from a song by The Waiting: "And now that I'm exhausted, I think I'm ready to admit / that I have spent all my resistance on Someone I can't resist." | Again, thanks. I know you guys can only carry me so far as this is online, but nice to have some assistance. It seems a little daunting to return like this after so many years away. But I know that I'm serious about it, and I'll figure out the right path.
I've only met two people from CGR that I can remember. First, I met BrooksB at a Radiohead show in Atlanta. That was really cool. Then, well, I met someone that ended up changing the course of my life in a lot of ways. But I think most of you guys know the story behind that.

U2 has been getting me through my days lately. Good band to be listening to when you're at the point I am right now. But I'm risking burnout at this point.

| Yeah, I had an extra pit ticket that I sold him at face value as a favor. I think he's living and working in Nashville, TN. Last time I talked to him I asked if he was going to attend Bonnaroo. He said no.

Should I buy that again or opt for a defining album instead?

Get either Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby, but you also need to hear their new record. It's a classic album and (in my opinion, don't stone me guys) rivals Kid A as top album of the decade.
Kind of going off tangent here, but man I was they had finished Pop before going on tour. That album could have been an absolute masterpiece if they'd finished it instead of rushing it out. If you compare the live versions of the Pop songs to the studio versions it's sad. Those songs kick complete ass live. "Mofo" live slays me. The PopMart tour was so bad ass. I stopped smoking cigarettes years ago but was up to a pack and a half a day. If I was drinking it could get as high as two and a half packs a day. I can't imagine how I would do that with prices the way they are today. Of course...I don't abuse alcohol or tobacco anymore...so I guess I don't have to worry about it.
I do smoke an occasional cigar and I've got a pipe but I haven't smoked it in about a year. My love for beer is well known here on CGR...but I really don't drink very often. |

I go through moods where I prefer Joshua Tree over everything else. I really like All That You Can't Leave Behind and have been listening to it quite a bit lately. However...my absolute favorite is War. I remember when it came out (I was almost thirteen) because it wasn't like anything else I was listening to. I was very much into hard rock and U2 was so different and they had something positive to say. I still think its one of their best. |

| I didn't start listening to U2 till I went to Ireland this past year. However, if you ever get the chance, rolling along through Ireland with U2 on the stereo just fits. There is something about them that just fits with the Irish landscape as you are driving by. I also didn't get the whole Sunday, Bloody Sunday thing till I heard it in Derry after walking the walls of Derry. If you ever get a chance, thats just an amazing experience. |

| Update: my faith has been completely renewed. All I did was ask God for forgiveness and offer re-commitment. After a few days, I feel like a completely different person. I find myself acting in much more selfless ways, and I'm not at all forcing it. It's been great. After how I've felt the last few years, that's nothing short of a miracle to me. Still more work to do, though. I have to give back in various ways. And I will.
