Vietnam War movies?

Can anyone give me and good Vietnam war movies to see? I've seen Platoon, Green Berets and a couple of others, and I know Apocolypse Now is a really good one.

We Were Soldiers is excellent.

Hamburger Hill is a decent one.

My choices would be Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now. Whatever you do, don't see Tigerland. That's a terrible film.

Apocalypse Now is my second-favorite war film in existence currently. Only Saving Private Ryan tops it.

Another vote for We Were Soldiers. It's a very powerful, moving film. I went and saw this with my dad (who was in the Navy during Vietnam and did one cruise there) and it made him cry. Hamburger Hill is also supposed to be a great, accurate Vietnam War film.

I would say that Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket are good films, but I don't know if I'd say they were good Vietnam War films. I definitely enjoyed them from a movie watching, storytelling standpoint (Apocalypse Now is an adaptation of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness), but they were less interesting from a "war movie" standpoint IMO.

We Were Soldiers is definitely a great film as well, and if a realistic, faithful interpretation of what the war was like is what you want, then they certainly don't make them much better than that. I just happen to prefer Apocalypse Now more.

I hate to do a +1 post, but dude... it should be a prerequisite to becoming a man to see We Were Soldiers. Amazing.

Apocalypse Now is a philosophical war movie although not necessarily a direct historicaly account such as We Were Soldiers. That doesn't make it any less of a war movie though. Certainly the depravity and darkness of mankind has a lot to do with war.
