| Now if they would only lower the price I would consider getting one. Mainly, it's the data plan that I don't want to have to pay for. I do, however, think it's great that the iPhone is finally getting MMS, turn by turn directions, and copy/paste functionality.

If you can get on a family plan with people who don't use many minutes or texts like me, you can really save money. |

Although I would have to cancel my contract early (at this point), I may have options to switch to AT&T.

| Well, for example, I'm on a family plan with 2 other people. We all split 700 minutes. We never go over, so we also amount a ton of rollover minutes in case we ever did. Because we're on a family plan, split 3 ways, we all pay about $60 a month. Text messaging can get expensive. AT&T sucks for not having a 500 or 1000 message plan. So that can get expensive if you're a heavy texter. But the other two people in my plan don't use texting at all and I went for the 1500 message plan, which for me, is essentially unlimited since I NEVER go over that many (average 300-400 a month).
$60 a month still ain't cheap, but it's better than being on your own plan with tons of minutes you don't even use. The cheapest plan for a single person is $70, and that's without texting. The savings add up over time. For a 2 year contract, you'd end up saving something in the neighborhood of $240. |

| I've heard completely unfounded rumors of iPhone coming to Verizon in June.
Anyone heard this from a credible source? |

Anyone heard this from a credible source? | Nope. Nothing credible. The reason being that Apple signed an exclusive deal with AT&T till, I believe, at least 2010. And it would be incredibly unwise for them to bite the hand that feeds them. |

| New features list:
- MMS
- Copy paste **
- Search (spotlight) **
- Push notifications
- P2P bluetooth
- In-app email
- Auto-fill (passwords) **
- Landscape keyboard in all apps **
- Third party accessory-specific apps ** 2 years late/reasons I sold my iPhone
But I don't regret selling my iPhone because Apple stated half the features like MMS won't work on the first gen iPhone. Go figure. |

So that would be until 2012ish. Now, who knows, maybe the deal was only for the first iPhone and the iPhone 3g may have different terms, but I'm fairly certain this was the original deal..
Mod note... this thread has been fairly borderline.. lets keep things civil. |

| A2DP is nice. I've had it on every phone I've had for the last 3 years. That's 7 phones btw.
I got a pair of these to go with them for free last Christmas. I love my job.

It's completely your choice to pick a different phone based on your needs. And yes, many of these features are 2 years too late. But my needs are different, so for me, even without these new features, I think the iPhone is great. I'm just so happy to finally get some of these features that should've been there to begin with. |

| It seems a little weird to do a relatively small update with something like the Palm Pre on the horizon. If it works the way it should, it could give the iPhone the first real run for its money (the G1 came close, but no where near the iphone as far as aesthetics goes). Apple had a real chance to do some interesting things this time around and make sure they stay well ahead of any competition and maintain their market share, but instead the update feels more like they're catching up to where they should have been a while ago.
Obviously, they can't release a new revolutionary product every few months, but I would hope they would try to put up a little bit more of a fight a bit before one of their first serious competitors releases their product. |
