really though. snail mail is always so exciting to get, and no one really writes letters any more. maybe you should try your hand at it. | I do all of that stuff occasionally. It's still hard though. Well, it's not difficult persay, just frustrating when you'd rather talk to somebody in a much more direct way. And if it's somebody I do care about, I always make it a point to get a blank card and write my own messages. I feel like I need to work to prove that I really deserve that silly English degree, I guess And yes, snail mail is ALWAYS awesome to get. Speak of which, I just got an e-mail today saying that my a capella cd is in on it's way here! (I only bring that up because, honestly, I highly doub there will ever be another time in my life where I get to truthfully say "my a capella cd is on it's way here!")
I've got some kind of bug that I can't quite put a finger on. Over the weekend I just had a soar throat that was easily kept at bay with cough drops and hot caffine drinks. Then I woke up feeling fine this morning, only to have my nose stopped up on me this evening. Otherwise, though I am fine, which makes me wonder what the heck this could be. It doesn't feel like anything serious, but you can never be to cautious, especially with this flu panic going on down in Mexico right now (and while I'm thinking about it, please shoot a prayer or two down that way whenever you think about it. It sounds like it's getting pretty horrible down there).
My only other thought is allergies....maybe? All of flowers and other miscellanious foliage has been blooming in full force finally, and I've never been in the midwest during springtime before so....I don't know, that's a possibility I guess.
So I'm listening to some video game music currently. Let me say, however, that these are actually some fairly cool sounding tunes. It's all from a little Wii game called World of Goo (which by the way, is really, really impressive. One of my favorites on the system so far. I definately recommend a download if you have one of the little white machines that could.) My step-brother was wondering if there was any way he could get the music from the game and I told him I'd try to find it for him. I figured somebody out there would have ripped the audio from it or something. Anyway, it turns out that the game's creator, out of the kindness and indieness of his heart, went ahead and uploaded all of the full tracks used in the game for free on his site. So, cool beans, right?
It's mostly experimental, indie stuff. Mostly synthesized, though he mentioned recording some real instruments for certain tracks. The operatic vocals on a handful of songs are legit too, of course. It's nothing earth shatteringly good, I only go on about it because you can snatch up all the music for free, and so I think it's worth checking out whenever you're bored, or whatever.
Anyway, that's all I really have to say, because life is dull. And lifeless. But mostly dull. |

| I'm sorry life is dull. =\
maybe you should use this time to write our musical. haha.
really though. I know it sucks sitting around at home. I hated it so much that I went right back to school, even though it doesn't really count for anything.
you could start writing murder mysteries. (put that degree to use!) or you could write a poetry anthology.
or you could start recording stuff again.
or you could do my homework for me. |

| I didn't realize you started a new blog. My bad.
Also the new Ben Folds Acapella album looks freaking cool.
In other news, I still think you need to get into Gavin DeGraw.
And what part of IndianA are you from?

And what part of IndianA are you from? | Yeah, this blog is started we runnin' this show It is your bad. So what now? WHAT EXCLAMATION POINTS QUESTION mARK
My Folds album came in the mail earlier today. It is pretty freakin cool. I wish everybody's self-proclaimed greatest hits record was this cool, actually.
In other news, I want everybody to love Bishop Allen and The Weepies, but we can't always get what we want. So...yeah.
I am pretty tired right now. That bug I had snow balled into sort of a nasty/annoying cold, but that's over now, thank God. And there is really nothing else noteworthy to say about life right now. It kind of ebbs and flows, and at the moment the tide seems to be out. So it goes...
Read somewhere yesterday that Derek Webb just finished his latest solo album (calling it Stockholm Syndrome). Not only that, but he also said it's coming out May 19th. That is the most ridiculiously lightning fast turn around I've ever heard of for any record. And while there's still no leaked tracks yet, the early rumors are continuing to get confirmed: it's an electronica album about sexuality and race issues. I'm really not sure what to make of that except that I am getting excited to get a copy of this in my hands, haha.
I am really starting to feel like I'm falling back into a rut right now. I'm not sure if it's the lack of any real employment leads or being out here in the country, the pitiful excuse for spiritual development at the family church.... the loneliness. It's probably a combination of all of that, honestly.
Life is...interesting. My instinct was to type 'difficult' there, but I know better then that. And...I think I am really rather exhausted at this point, and it'd likely be smarter if I got some sleep before trying to tackle some sort of philisophical jab at my current situation again.
So adios for now! Or whatever

| Spent most of today on my step father's property helping him and my step brother trim trees and get rid of a pretty nasty silk worm infestation (tis the season, after all). The rest of the day's been spent with a cloud over my head. I know last time I wrote that I wanted to take some sort of metaphorical uppercut to my current circumstances, but I just realized that, as ocassionally is the case, life can be summed up a heck of a lot better through a set of song lyrics: Everybody knows, it sucks to grow up
But everybody does, it's so weird to be back here
Let me tell ya what, the years go on
And we're still fighting it
We're still fighting it
And you look so much like me
...I'm sorry
And yeah, that's pretty much the rub of it. Life's is going pretty smoothly in all honesty. It's just the realization setting in that there's really nothing worthwhile to celebrate this season of (assumed) growth right now, and there may not be anything for a long time yet. And if that's God's inclination...then I guess I just really want the courage to say 'so be it'. |

| I haven't made another one. The creativity is just not here...
Hopefully that isn't too small. I don't know what size it is. I could probably go back and make it the right size if need be. But I was lazy. |

They're basically these catipillars that devour any plants they can get their teeth into, including all the new spring plants shooting up in the garden. They must go, naturally. We ended up tossing a crapload of them into the garbage bin at the bottom of the driveway. My step brother and I had the cooler better idea of buring the whole lot of them, but his dad wouldn't let us drive down the road to his grandfather's place to grab their metal trash can. Bummer, that.
So instead, he spent most of the day climbing tree and trying to burn the nests up with a flamethrower made from a cigarette lighter being blown on by alternating bottles of AX and Old Spice cologne. He had mixed success. Quote: |

That said, while it could possibly be a tiny bit bigger, it's really nice. Thanks

But seriously, not too much man. I am looking for work in an area where jobs seem to be few. I am getting sick of Indiana, or more accurately, the country. I am probably playing waaaay too much Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! for my own good. I am also listening to lots of good music these days, so that's something.
How are you sir? Quote: |

So, I just spent the better part of an hour fighting the body builder hell, finally TKOing his butt after a grueling process of trial and error, only to finally (FINALLY!) reach the final boxer and have my own butt handed back to me in less then twenty seconds. I think I understand now why developers don't make games like they use to anymore. These old NES games (well, most of the good ones) blend the perfect balance of challenge and fairness though. I am frustrated, but it's a good kind. And my step-brother and I just had to laugh after I lost without even getting to swing my tiny green fists once. Man......
......Okay, on to more important things. I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and early evening with my step-brother and his girlfriend as they were job hunting in town. I was sort of more of an observer, I guess (besides, most of the places advised applying online anyway). It didn't go so well for any of us though. Nobody's really hiring anywhere around here currently, and it's frustrating (the bad sort in this case). We did, however, have dinner at Cracker Barrel since we were so far from home, and there is always a good time to be had at Cracker Barrel. Their dumplings are awesome, by the way.
I'm currently listeing to Folds' acapella collection and, having some extended time to meditate on it, I am officially giving it my hearty recommendation now. It's kind of strange, I am not a big fan of a capella music. And I only say it is strange because I grew up with that kind of singing in the church (Church of Christ traditional, represent yo). Of course, I'm really not a big fan of most church music...so that explains it, I guess. Anyway, that's neither here or there. I guess I really like this collection because I'm already familiar with the songs, and it's interesting hearing them in such different arrangements. Well, all of them except Evaporated. Talented though they may be, the group who sang on that track totally butchered the song.
That's all I can think of now that feels like it warrants mentioning. And honestly, most of that probably didn't even warrant it |

| Yeah, the job market's not so peachy these days...good luck on your search!
If you were to leave the country, where would you go?
What is this good music you speak of? I'm doing alright, trying to make it through the last week and a half of school. Quote: |

| Sorry again about the lack of job-finding...
I've never been to Cracker Barrel, but I only hear good things about it. What were the dumplings contained within? Quote: |

| So cracker barrel.. my older sister lived in Dallas, Texas for 10 years and we used to visit her very often. My dad started a tradition, (we still don't know why), of stopping at every cracker barrel on the way. So literally from Ohio to Texas we stopped at seven or eight cracker barrels to eat. And hit the same ones on the way back.
Then when we were in Texas my sister took us to Cracker Barrel for breakfast as well...
Yeah, my youngest sister to this day hates Cracker Barrel with a passion.
I don't mind so much anymore that my sister moved back to Ohio and we don't go to Cracker Barrel anymore on a regular basis.
