Thats the thing, its all about money right now, which really bugs me...


The Mariners just signed Chone Figgens to 4 year, 36 millions contract. I love Chone Figgens, and think hes a fantastic player, but with the performance the Mariners have gotten out of their bigger contracts over the years makes me wonder...(Carlos Silva, Adrian Beltre, Richie Sexson, etc.)

I haven't heard anything yet.

EDIT: found it. Granderson didn't even have that good of a year this year, did he?

In terms of home runs, rbi's, and extra base hits, he had a great year. Along with fielding. His average was down quite a bit though... (.290ish lifetime to .249) One "off" season isn't a reason to get rid of a multi-year contract guy, I mean, even Albert Pujols has off years (well, not really, but obviously it happens)

It wasn't a bad deal...I'm just sad to see Grandy and Edwin go. (and Placido, for that matter). All this to pay Magglio 18 mil, and 4 other guys (Guillen, Bonderman, Dontrelle, and Robertson) 10+ million who are all close to nothing last year. I'm excited about Austin Jackson, along with Schlereth. I'm not the biggest Phil Coke fan ever; I think we could have gotten more, but whatever.
