Well, the Tigers left a ton of runners on base, including the bases loaded with 1 out in the 12th, and they summarized their season pretty well.

I'm pumped for the Twins, though Detroit must have a bad taste in their mouths...

What a fun game that was. I'm glad it was on the radio here.

Predictions?

I'm seeing the Yankees over the Twins fairly easily, I'm hoping the Angels will beat the BoSox, and in the NL I'm feeling the Phillies and Cardinals. I want to see an Angels-Cardinals World Series, but I'd put more money on a Phillies-Yankees matchup.

I am hoping for Rockies v. Twins. That would be the ultimate. My true guess is Angels vs. Cards

I really don't want to see the Cards go big, but it's definitely a possibility. The Yanks looked great...if they keep it up, they'll be playing long into the month.

I want to see LAD vs BOS for the sole purpose of seeing Manny get booed like there's no tomorrow!

I wanna see cards versus anybody... I hate the cards less than any of the other NL teams... and I just don't care enough about the AL to do anything more than acknowledge it's existence. It's the worst form of bastardized baseball to ever be contrived. I'd consider kickball and softball more viable variants. DAMN THE DH!

I wanna see the Dodgers vs Yankees, and for the Yankees to lose, terribly.
That or Phillies and Yankees. I really like the Phillies for some reason, and I'd love them to kill the Yankees.

The DH is a very small part of a very good league. The so-called "worst form of bastardized baseball to ever be contrived" has taken the World Series 12 times in the last 20 years, and 61 time out of 104 in the history of baseball.

Softball is retarded.

Sucks to be Matt Holliday right about now.

The DH rule takes a lot away from strategy and gives the AL an unfair hitting advantage. Entire teams are based around the DH now. Take that rule away and let pitchers bat. Baseball shouldn't be a slug-fest. Then we'll see if one league is better than the other. The answer is no, they have an unfair advantage.

Indeed. When AL teams play against NL teams in AL parks, the DH is a definite advantage to the AL team. When a NL team has to play a DH it's usually a 4th outfielder or a utility infielder of some sort. Meanwhile, the AL teams play DHs that are groomed specifically for DHing.

Another vote against the evil DH. I'm glad my team is in the better league.

First, I'd like to point out that all three of you root for NL teams.

Secondly, consider Wikipedia's list of current primary DHs by team:

BAL - Ty Wigginton
BOS - David Ortiz
CWS - Scott Podsednik
CLE - Travis Hafner
DET - Marcus Thames
KC - Mike Jacobs
LAA - Vladimir Guerrero
MIN - Jason Kubel
NYY - Hideki Matsui
OAK - Jack Cust
SEA - Ken Griffey Jr.
TB - Pat Burrell
TEX - Hank Blalock
TOR - Adam Lind

Some big names there, but not too many. Ortiz, Guerrero, Matsui, and Lind would probably be the biggest, and all of them play a position as well. Many of these 15 guys would simply be playing first base or left field if they weren't DHing. One could also argue that when AL pitchers have to hit, they are at a bigger disadvantage because they never have to hit, and are therefore less adept at hitting and bunting and the like. Leonard Koppett in his book The New Thinking Fan's Guide To Baseball does a tremendous job analyzing the pros and cons and implications of the DH, and concludes that the DH does not really make that much difference. I could go on.
