| So the Jays lost the series with the Angels, 2-1. Now, preparation for Kansas.

#154 | | Cool enough Administrator | Well, it's official. Randy Johnson is a 300 game winner. Brian Wilson with the 4 out save, and it is a great day to watch a ballgame or two! |

| And the Toronto Blue Jays finish off a series with the Royals with Halladay shutting them out (4-0). Hill nailed his 13th homer! Now, off the Texas.

I'd hate for this to be true. Unless Jamie Moyer can stick it out for about 6 more years, it doesn't look like there will be anymore anytime soon. In my opinion, the only current pitchers with the potential to do so are Andy Pettite (220 at 37, kind of a longshot), Jamie Moyer (250 at 46, who knows), Roy Halladay (141 at 32), Roy Oswalt (131 at 31), then Johan Santana (116 at 30) C.C Sabathia (122 at 28), and then a few young others that are too soon to tell. With that said, its still a long shot for most of these guys. Its pretty obvious that you're going to have to pitch well into your 40's to accomplish this nowadays. Anyhow, just curious on what you guys think.

#157 | | Algebraic! | I don't think it's a big deal that it doesn't look like any new 300 win club members will come around in the next decade or two. Assuming retirement at 42, getting into the 300 win club would likely mean maintaining an average of 12-14 wins per season for the remainder of their careers for everyone on your list (except Moyer, who is already past 43).
But realistically, I don't think it's an accomplishment that should have so many members. Currently there are 24 members in the 300 win club. There are even fewer members in the 3000 strikeout club and only four players have made it to the 4000 strikeout mark. These marks are supposed to be hard to reach though. Like the 3000 hit club (27 members), these "clubs" typically designate the game's elite players. Every member of the 300 win club and 3000 hit club that were eligible for joining the HOF are in the HOF. As such, I don't think it's a big deal that it may be a long time until we see another group of elite players approach these marks. |

| Wow, 9-0 for the Jays two nights ago, Tallot pitched a good really good game. Last nights game was canceled due to a ridiculous storm in Texas that prevented any chance of a ball game being played. That game is rescheduled for September.

MLB has taken pitching to a very precise science. As such a science, you have guys not pitching as many innings and a greater reliance on a bullpen. Starting pitchers in this era just don't get as many wins as pitchers used to, and more no decisions. Any pitching statistic based on longevity (wins, strikeouts, etc.) is probably much harder to obtain now than it was "in the old days."
That's my thoughts on the topic. And Jamie Moyer will not get 300 wins. |

| I agree with what you guys have said..I still think they're will be 300 winners in the future, but not for a while. I was just curious on what you guys thought. I've come to realize that becoming a pitcher is a lot easier when you pitch for a winning team (well duh), but just think of how many victories that guys like Roy Halladay would have if they had been pitching for a really good hitting team such as the Red Sox for the past 10 years. Just some thoughts...(and Jamie Moyer...you never know Jon )
The Mariners pitching is so hot right now. I don't think they've given up more than 3 runs in the past 8 games. The sad thing is, they've lost three of those games.

| The Jays' top 5 starters are ALL on the DL. How are we still alive?
Scott Richmond pitched a fantastic game the other day.
And we swept the World Champions in their park.
