I dont think songs should just have their lyrics read. To make a whole song, you need both lyrics and music. If the lyrics are good but the music is bad (or vice-versa), its not gonna be a good song.
Please, when you can, make an effort to actually listen to my songs (or anyone else's for that matter) so that you can get the full picture
Thanks

Far Too Familiar

Haven't posted in nearly a month. Heres another song
In the bridge (7th stanza) the bits in Italics are sung over the top of the other bits, sort of like in Emery's "The Ponytail Parades". I've tried to make similar lyrics fit together and overlap in that bit. Please listen so you know what I mean

Far Too Familiar

These streets that I walk are far too familiar
I've got to get out and see somewhere new
Anywhere would be great, any time, any day
As long as I'm there with you

Cos right now I've got everything to gain
And if you came with me maybe you could have the same
I've got just one question that I have to ask you:
What have you got to lose?

I'm hanging out for the day that you look at me and say
That from my side you'll never leave
There I want to shatter the clocks and make time stop
Can we stay in this moment forever, please?
Forever, please

These faces I see are far too familiar
I need to move on and meet someone new
There's only one face that I want to remember
Only one name and it's you

When I'm all alone it's like a prison within me
But when I'm around you it feels like I have been set free
Just one last request, that's all I ask of you:
Oh please don't leave me here

I'm dreading the day that you turn and walk away
Time itself will seem to stand still
Stuck in a painful eternity till I can have you with me
Wait for your love forever, I do, I will
I do, I will

Keep having to clean up this mess that I've made
All the brightest colours are starting to fade
But the world seems so much brighter with you, with you
(You're smile, it warms me inside
And shines like a rainbow in darkest of night
When I'm dreaming of time spent with you, with you)

All that I've lived for and all I believe
I can't tell you why but it feels like a dream
That's slowly being washed away, away
(So please take my hand
And promise you wont let go
Cos I'm slowly being washed away, away)

Often the best dreams are the simplest
We sit together and I hold you close
Then we lie down and do nothing
But stare into each others' eyes
It's beautiful, so beautiful
And you're beautiful, so beautiful
Pure fantasy, really
Nothing wrong with that
But nothing real about it either

Crash

another newie
this one's called Crash
I wanted to experiment with synths, percussion and I also wanted to write a soft rock song in Drop-D
Feedback is appreciated

Crash

I’ve been thinking
Thinking about tomorrow
And I’ve decided
Tomorrow’s not where I want to be at all

I’m complacent
Happy enough where I am
But I’m just scared
Scared of what the future holds in his hands

Have you ever felt the weight of the world
Crashing down around you, crashing down around you

I’ve done good things
But I’ve done bad as well
We’re all sinners
So how come only half will go to hell?

We’ve all had friends
And a place that we call home
But if this is true
Then why do some of us still die alone?

Have you ever felt the weight of the world
Crashing down around you, crashing down around you

Tears falling down like rain in the winter
Beaten up again like a boxer in the ring
Sick of being trampled like the track run by a sprinter
Off to fight another war like the soldiers of a king

I’ve been thinking
Thinking about my future
And from all these thoughts emerges
Just one question:
Where do I go from here?

Where do I go from here?
