Yes, there are things like timing belts and water pumps and other more critical engine components which need to be changed according to the manufacturer's spec, so you'll (the op) need to find out what those are for your specific vehicle.
Other things like oil changes and water/anti-freeze changes can be a little more uniform from car to car in their change cycle, but it's still best to see what the car maker recommends.
