realtime midi piano modeling

so, I'm looking for software that will give me a realistic piano model in real time from my midi keyboard. Several recording programs have this sort of soft synth but they have a few second delay. Is there any software that will run in real time. The ability to integrate into sonar would be nice, so I could record. I'm thinking something free but wouldn't be opposed to droping a few bucks. I'm sick of the boring midi piano sound.
Thanks

I have the feeling it's your keyboard/software, not the softsynth...

All softsynths have some lag. You may need to upgrade your computer and connectivity hardware. The better quality of sound you're after, the more you're going to have to spend. I'd look in a pawn shop for an older, good-quality sound module, personally.

What kind of sound card are you using?
