A Bands Best Album

So I was "arguing" with my brother the other day about whether or not every band has one album that is better than the others. He thought no, I thought yes. So I'd like to try something. I'll name a band and then anyone who wants can post and say which album of theirs they think is the best. After the discussion on that band has died off someone can post another band and we can all say which album of that band we think is best, and so on. I'll start:

Anberlin

In my opinion, Never Take Friendship Personal is their best album. The original Feel Good Drag and Paperthin Hymn are amazing songs. And the best song they have ever written is Dance, Dance, Christa Paffgen.

I agree with you that every band has at least one album that is just better than the rest....what it is, is what comes into debate....that being said I don't see how I can be any help to a debate of what Anberlin's best album is, as I don't like them nor do I listen to them enough

Great idea, but I have to disagree with you.I think that Cities is Anberlins best album. All of those songs are hits to me;Godspeed,Adelaid,A Whisper and A Clamor,Cable Car,Alexithymia(great bass line),Reclusion, the climatic Fin,and their best 'love' song ever,Inevitable.Cities wins, hands down.

I agree that every band has a best album, but it's all subjective. For the most part though, I think in the majority of cases the "Best of XXX" albums are usually the best. However, that's not what we're talking about here.

I'll do this since no one else is willing. Relient K. I think their first one is their best.

I'd have to go with Two Lefts Don't Make a Right... But Three Do. Partly just because it was the first Relient K album I owned. Its a little more polished than the first two, but not to the extent of the newer ones which felt over-produced to me. Clever lyrics with a nice bonus track at the end.

Care to explain why? I would probably put it as #2, but it felt like it was missing something.

It stuck out as the most distinct and memorable musically and the most mature lyrically. The early albums had too many goofy and shallow pop culture references.

That's what made Self-Titled my favorite. I'm more of a fan of pop references than more mature lyrical metaphors.

I would tend to agree with this. The pop-culture references defined Relient K and made them stand out from the rest. Without them they seem pretty boring IMO. Although I did appreciate Two Lefts because it kept some of that but also sounded somewhat more "mature".

I find the constant references in the first album to be grating. Every single song has some kind of pop culture reference. At a point the references don't come off as clever they come off more like, "HEY LOOK WE SAY BACK TO THE FUTURE!' "HEY LOOK WE'VE HEARD OF MARILYN MANSON!"

I wouldn't say that I like the lyrics on mmhmm so much as I can listen to that album without finding a good amount of the lyrics groan worthy.

Two Lefts... is easily the worst Relient K album. I'm surprised this is even a question...

Anatomy is their best album, in my opinion, followed by Mmhmm and the self-titled.

Maybe I'll get this in the right thread this time:

Nnext artist is Switchfoot.

My vote is "The Beautiful Letdown"
